Phone: 678 377-4010
4-H Contact: Mark Ziegler mziegler@uga.edu
Through the 4-H program the Extension Service does have activity boxes that can be checked out. These are apparently underutilized and the service would like to see them get used. I spoke to Jean Gable who pointed out that some of the boxes, for example, the arts and crafts box contain science materials such as hornet and wasp nests. See the attached list of the available boxes.
FernbankScience Center http://fsc.fernbank.edu/
Offer outreach programs to Dekalb County Schools only. This is apparently a well-advertised program in Dekalb. Occasionally they will offer programs for non-Dekalb schools. Check their website for listings.
Other resources that have on site exhibits, lectures and/or tours, but did not have any outreach programs. Many offer teacher education programs.
The people I spoke to indicated that over the next couple of years they are hoping to develop some outreach programs. They might be willing to help with specific requests for materials.
